Abstract
Mental disturbances are not an uncommon complication of therapy with various corticosteroids and ACTH.1,2 We have found that ascorbic acid relieves the depression syndrome associated with ACTH in one patient being treated for chronic hepatitis. A 5-year-old girl was admitted to the Clinic because of HB8Ag-positive chronic hepatitis. Since a liver biopsy revealed an active process, she underwent prolonged long-acting synthetic ACTH therapy given in different courses. On the first week of treatment the patient appeared "depressed" and less sociable to the ward nurses.
