Abstract

RATIONALE: Formation of superantigen-MHC class II -T cell receptor trimeric complex is a prerequisite for superantigen-induced T cell activation. Therefore, antibodies to MHC class II molecules could have a therapeutic or prophylactic role in superantigen-induced toxic shock syndrome by preventing superantigen binding to MHC class II molecules.
