Abstract
The article describes the anthropological works of the pre-revolutionary period, concerning the hereditary characteristics of the various ethnic groups. A lot of organizational work of anthropological expeditions was carried out by the Association of Natural History, Anthropology and Ethnography, organized in 1863. This association made it possible to describe the morphological characteristics of different nationalities, dwelling on the territory of the Russian Empire. By the beginning of the twentieth century a stable trend in the anthropological work was an appeal to the study of ethnic groups in terms of inheritance of morphological and physiological characteristics. The accumulated data on the variability of populations of different nationalities gathered with the help of anthropological science. This data prepared a fertile ground for the emergence of new areas of research at the crossroads of the interests of genetics, anthropology and evolutionary theory.

У статті розглянуті антропологічні праці дореволюційного періоду, що стосуються спадкових особливостей різних етнічних груп. В Росії було створено Товариство любителів природознавства, антропології та етнографії, організатором якого був О.П. Що в окремих областях зустрічалися коливання різних ознак, які, на його думку, залежали від неоднорідності етнічних елементів. Життя Віктора Володимировича Воробйова рано обірвалося і він не зміг зробити всі свої заплановані дослідження з антропології російського народу. Він був активним членом Товариства любителів природознавства, антропології та етнографії, співробітником Російського антропологічного журналу, чудовим викладачем і чуйною людиною. Перша світова війна і революційна обстановка у великих містах значною мірою зменшили масштаби експедиційної роботи з вивчення антропології різних груп населення Росії. Були опубліковані матеріали, які продовжили класичні роботи з вивчення антропологічних ознак населення Росії [60,61,62,63,64]. Накопичені дані про мінливість популяцій різних народностей, зібрані силами антропологічної науки, підготували благодатний грунт для появи нових напрямів досліджень на перехресті інтересів генетики, антропології, еволюційної теорії
