Abstract
Detailed X-band EPR study of a Cu2+-doped single crystal of strontium acetate hemihydrate from room temperature to liquid-helium temperature has been made. The spectra exhibit well-resolved hyperfine lines of 63Cu2+ along with those of the 65Cu2+ ion. Presence of only one type of copper complex has been observed. The data indicate that Cu2+ ions get incorporated at a site, characterized by a three-fold or higher symmetry. The principal values of the g and A matrices at room, liquid-nitrogen, and liquid-helium temperatures have been rigorously estimated by the least-square fitting method. No occurrence of any phase transition has been found over the range from room temperature to 2.5 K.
