Abstract
Anomalously intense photon emission from He I (n=3 to n=2) has been observed when helium plasmas contact with cold hydrogen molecules. This enhancement of photon emission can be understood to be due to accidental resonant double electron capture by alpha particles, He2+, when molecular hydrogen gases are injected into helium plasmas: He2++H2 to He*(1s3l)+H22+. The present observation has also confirmed theoretical prediction of strongly selective double electron capture by alpha particles in He2++H2 collisions.
