Abstract

The conductivity of aqueous solutions of salts, acids, and bases in submicron gaps between clean contact gold surfaces was measured with the use of the contact electric resistometry. The conductivity of diluted aqueous solutions is anomalously high and exceeds the conductivity of strong and concentrated solutions of salts and acids. The effect depends on the potential difference between the electrodes that form the walls of the gap.
