Abstract

Female and prepubertally castrated male rats displayed increases in anogenital explorations during the first week of testosterone propionate injections. No other increases in male sexual behavior were observed. The results indicate that although a priming time is required for testosterone propionate to induce complete patterns of male sexual behavior, increases in arousal, as indexed by anogenital explorations, occur quite rapidly.
