Abstract

This study is focused on the electrochemical performance of perovskite-type materials based on doped LaGaO3 (LGO). La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3-δ (LSGM) and La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.115Co0.085O3-δ (LSGMCo) were used as electrolytes and La0.8Sr0.2MnO3-δ (LSM) and La0.75Sr0.25Cr0.5Mn0.5O3-δ (LSCM) as cathode and anode material, respectively. Much better performance was obtained at an LSGM electrolyte than at LSGMCo, probably due to interfacial reactions between LSGMCo and LSM. An LSGM electrolyte was prepared by tape casting with a thickness of about 120 μm and good values of power output in a conventional electrolyte-supported cell were achieved, 425 and 570 mW/cm2 using wet 5% H2/Ar and pure hydrogen as fuel, respectively, and pure O2 as oxidant at 1073 K.
