Abstract

A Fifth annual report should be considered, perhaps, as something of a landmark. The experimental stage, that of having an American Representative, seems past, and while we might wish for something spectacular to present at this time, it is possibly more fitting to state that the growth has been steady, the interest in the Bronte Society has increased and the membership has continued to widen as well as to mount gradually in numbers.Thinking that a brief review of my records might be of value at this point; I happened upon a surprising coincidence—that it was exactly five years ago to-day, April 8th, 1951, when the appointment of an American Representative was made.
