Abstract

SEG's International Exposition and 87th Annual Meeting is one that will be long remembered — as much for the events preceding it as for the meeting itself. On 25 August 2017, just a month prior to the scheduled opening of SEG's 2017 Annual Meeting in Houston, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in south Texas and remained in the area for several days, ultimately dumping a record amount of rain — upward of 50 inches in parts of the state — and doing some US$75 billion in damage.
