Abstract

In this paper a study was conducted to map the risks and qualify them to direct to the mitigationmeasures that must be conditioned to such elements. The methodology consisted of anexploratory method, field and literature review to evaluate the projects standard conditions andcharacteristics of the produced water in northeastern Brazil. The results demonstrate that the useof produced water for irrigation is of good practice, and 57% of the risks associated with suchactivity is classified as negligible. The main risks were observed in the correlation of the factors ofosmosis reverse production (by the associated degrees of frequency and pollutants concentrationlevel) and possible soil contamination by irrigation of effluent with high levels of hydrocarbons byoperational failures in the oil-water separation system, or even in the effluents flotation.Recommendations for the management of reverse osmosis concentrated currents need to refer toother forms of disposal, using techniques incineration, landfill or industrial coprocessing. Since, the mitigation of soil contamination be performed by preventive maintenance techniques in thesystems effluent treatment, in order to avoid disturbances that generate currents outside ofdesired levels. Furthermore, it is recommended that the system to be inter-locked with the use ofin-line analyzers content of oil and grease contained in said treated effluent.
