Abstract

Abstract A numerical interpretation of a change in mechanical strength of BaTiO3-type ceramics by ferroelectric phase transitions has been given. The relation between this change and change in anisotropy of electromechanical properties of grains has been established. The role of the scale effect in forming strength properties of the ferroelectric ceramics has been analyzed. Theoretical estimates obtained in this paper have been compared with experimental data on polycrystalline BaTiO3 and PbTiO3 samples.
