Abstract

Anisotropic terahertz dielectric metamaterials with multipolar Mie resonances are proposed and experimentally demonstrated in this work. The multiple interference effects among different Mie resonances can suppress the reflection and enhance the transmission intensity. Different combinations of multipolar Mie resonance modes provide an alternative approach to alter the phase dispersion. By engineering the multiple interference effects, the anisotropic design can control the phase delay between two orthogonal directions to reach $\pi/2$ and $\pi$ with high transmission. Such anisotropic dielectric metamaterials can become a new paradigm for terahertz meta-devices.
