Abstract
Abstract Angular distributions of fragment ion pairs (O++CO+ and C++O+) produced in dissociative double photoionization of carbon dioxide have been studied in the photon energy region 41–100 eV by use of a photoion–photoion coincidence (PIPICO) technique and a source of linearly polarized synchrotron radiation. The asymmetry parameter ranges from 0.89 at 41 eV to 0.01 at 90 eV for the O++CO+ dissociation channel and from 0.89 at 55 eV to −0.08 at 90 eV for the C++O+ channel. The observed anisotropy in dissociative double photoionization from the valence orbitals of CO2 is related to the symmetry involved in the transition.
