Abstract
Anisochronic observers for systems with delays or hereditary properties result from a functional extension of classical state space bringing about a significantly reduced number of state variables needed, compared with the standard state space approach. The anisochronic state variables can be selected as measurable outputs in most cases and their availability is a significant advantage in process monitoring. Observability condition of the anisochronic system state is investigated and anisochronic observer design is presented based on a functional extension of Ackermann formula. An easy possibility of observer decomposition represents another significant advantage of anisochronic state observer application.
