Abstract
High-temperature neutron diffraction study of BaF 2 single crystal is carried out. The modulation of diffuse background in the vicinity of (4 n − 1) and (4 n + 1) type reflections is found at 1073 K, the (4 n − 1) type modulation being more pronounced than (4 n + 1) type. The results are explained qualitatively in terms of the co-operative effect of F - ions displacement from tetrahedral sites due to the ions anharmonic vibrations.
