Abstract

For pt.I see ibid, vol.3, no.5, 975. The method described previously is applied in the determination of thermodynamical properties of neon, argon, krypton and xenon. Calculations are made of the cubic and quartic anharmonic effect on the two body potential, the Helmholtz free energy, the specific heat, the equivalent Debye temperature and the thermal expansion. Anharmonic effects on thermal expansion give comparatively small corrections to the quasiharmonic predictions, except with neon, but in all cases improve the agreement with experiment. Anharmonic contributions to the specific heat are appreciable.
