Abstract

The excited states in 22Ne up to 6.68 MeV excitation energy have been studied using the 19F(α, pγ) 22Ne reaction at 4He energies of 12.55 and 13.55 MeV. Angular correlations between protons detected at 180° and gamma rays were measured. Possible spin assignments, multipole mixing and branching ratios for the gamma decay from the excited states in 22Ne were obtained. Using a Ge(Li) crystal as gamma-ray detector the values or limits of lifetimes for the 3.35, 4.46, 5.14 and 6.35 MeV states were determined by the analysis of gamma-ray line shapes. The analysis includes the effect on the line shapes due to nuclear scattering.
