Abstract

The study attempts to trace the units of influence of the Anglo-Saxon culture, penetrating to the countries of the Pacific region through the channels of intercultural communication. The hypothesis that the main units of influence, "cultural microbes", are the works of recreational culture, which easily penetrate the consciousness of mass public, is formulated. The article proposes a discussion about how Western cultural patterns realize themselves in the vast expanse of the Pacific region. The focus of the proposed description is the sphere of youth pop music of the PRC and the cinematic novelties of South Korea. An attempt is made to analyze the channels of influence of Western ideologists on the younger generation of these countries.
