Abstract

A characteristic feature of modern science is that it is turning into a complex and continuously growing social organism, into the most dynamic, mobile, productive society force. In this regard, the management of the training and certification of highly qualified scientific and scientific/pedagogical personnel plays an essential role. The article examines the historical issues of the formation of highly qualified scientific personnel and their certification, as well as methodological aspects and features of scientific research. The stages and the current problems and challenges of preparing and writing a research paper (PhD thesis) are outlined.
