Abstract

Flaxseeds are consumed added to cereals and cooked foods, used for their laxative effect and high content of omega-3 fatty acids. At the dietary level, 15 g of flaxseeds provides 135% of the daily requirement of omega-3 fatty acids revealing a beneficial effect. Possibly related to its increased consumption over the last few years, although infrequent, allergic reactions to flaxseeds have been reported.1-9
