Abstract

Effective implementation of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) is essential for sustainable development of any manufacturing industry. In present work, seven performance indicators viz. AMT issues (AI), top management (TM), organizational factors (OF), education, training and incentives (ETI), team based activities (TBA), internal planning activities (IPA) and external planning activities (EPA) of AMT have been shortlisted using extensive literature review and brain storming. Multi-criteria decision making methods are used for analyzing these performance indicators. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is applied to obtain the priority weights of performance indicators and Technique of Order Preference Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method is implemented to find the relative closeness values of selected performance indicators. The results of AHP - TOPSIS showed that top management and education, training and incentives of employees are top rated performance indicators for successful implementation of AMT in a manufacturing industry. The present research could help the researchers and managers who are doing research in the domain of AMT implementation strategy.
