Abstract

AbstractWe present an analytical method for calculating the energy spectra of electron and hole in V‐groove quantum wire. The carrier ground states as well as the wave functions are calculated by an effective potential model together with a suitable coordinate transformation that allows the decoupling of the two‐dimensional wave function. The result clearly indicates the strong confinement of both electrons and holes. The calculated energy of carrier and wave function by this analytical method are in good agreement with the earlier numerical investigations. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
