Abstract

Individuals' acquaintance with technology from an early age is an important determinant in gaining their habits and behaviors in their future lives. The preschool period is also an important time period in gaining habits as well as the support of children's development. Children spend time with technological devices such as television, mobile phone, tablet and computer in order to provide communication, entertainment and learning in their daily lives. This article was conducted to examine the opinions of preschool children on digital games. Mixed method design has been used to achieve this goal. The research group of the study consists of 20 preschool children attending kindergarten in Mersin, which was determined by easy case sampling. The data of the research was obtained by “personal information form” and “semi-structured interview form”. The analysis of the data was carried out by descriptive analysis and content analysis. When the results of the research were examined, it was seen that all of the children in the study group played digital games. It has been found that boys and girls play different digital games. It was determined that the most digital games were played by their parents on their mobile phones. It has been determined that children play digital games for reasons such as love, entertainment, desire, competition / sense of accomplishment, auditory stimulus, life / daily life. It was found that they felt the emotions of happiness, excitement, fun, anger and sadness while playing digital games.
