Abstract

We present an analysis on how to match the reflectivity of the multi-cavity thin film interleaver (MCTFI) to achieve a ripple-free in the passband. We introduce the multi-mirror theory to ascertain the match relation of the reflectivity of the reflectors of MCTFI, regarded as a cascaded multi-mirror system. We derive a matching expression for the reflectivity of the reflectors in the case of a 3-cavity thin film interleaver and we show how to eliminate the ripple in the passband of the MCTFI by selecting a properly matching value of the reflectivity of the reflectors. This method is convenient and straightward to evaluate the required reflectivity for each reflector of the thin film F–P filter compared with the conventional way.
