Abstract

The interest in the development of new nano dielectric fluids suitable for electro technical applications has increased significantly in the last decade. Several authors have reported experiences on fluids manufactured using different base fluids and nano particles. Most of these studies are focused on the comparison of the thermal and dielectric properties of the nanofluids and the base liquids. Authors have found that the addition of nano particles can lead to an improvement of the properties of insulating liquids. The main aim of this paper is to study how the nano particles can modify the amount of water that can be dissolved in transformer dielectric oil. In this study a natural ester was used and Fe $_{3} O_{4}$ nano particles were dispersed in it. The experimental results show a certain increase in water solubility of the nano dielectric fluid compared to that of natural ester.
