Abstract

The severity index identifies the different levels of violence in general and their types, to recognize the type of aggression suffered by the victims and the other risk situations they could suffer. In this work, violence and the severity index against women have been analyzed, achieving a correlation with sociodemographic variables. The study involved 925 intentionally selected women over the age of 18. The main results show that the low level of schooling is a predominant factor for the existence of a situation of violence, as well as the condition of being married or alone with children, where there is a relationship of economic dependence, are predominant factors for a situation of violence.
