Abstract

ABSTRACT In this paper analysis of three phase induction machine performance in conjunction with a controllable thyristor switching is presented. The influence of the controller on machine operation in both symmetrical and unsymmetrical modes is explained. A simplified approach to describe the machine equations, with different number of operating phases is provided with illustrations of the corresponding stator voltage vector. Analytical solutions for the machine equations in the different modes are provided. Connecting solutions is performed by relating the voltage space vector of the existing mode to the prior one and defining the initial values of the currents. Since analytical technique is employed, the transient current component associated with mode changing is included, which allows an accurate simulation of the performance. Machine performance expressed in terms of the stator current waveform is obtained for different values of the thyristor triggering angle. The relationship between the triggerin...
