Abstract

Flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) motors have been increasing popular application in the electrical vehicles (EVs) due to the high power and torque density. The thermal performance of the FSPM motors with different topologies are investigated in this paper. Since the EVs usually operate in different the driving cycle, the FSPM motors are preferred in the different speeds. Therefore, the thermal performance of the FSPM motors in the different speeds are analyzed and compared. The FSPM motor with I-shape permanent magnets (I-FSPM) and V-shape permanent magnets (V-FSPM) are selected. Finally, the thermal performances of the two motors at the different speed are analyzed and compared by the Finite Element Method.
