Abstract

The strength margin and the rupture life of a structure with a flaw detected via AE measurements are estimated during an overloading test. The kinetic theory of fracture is used. Stages of damage accumulation and crack growth have been considered. It is shown that the lifetime can be extended for a given period, according to the results of the testing, only at moderate operating temperatures.
