Abstract

Due to the high depletion of oil reserves in the South Turgai oil and gas basin, there is a need for additional exploration of additional promising and economically attractive oil and gas objects that have not been covered by drilling through a comprehensive analysis of geological and geophysical data. Thus, in 2019, high-resolution seismic surveys were carried out at the fields of JV KazGerMunai LLP (from now on, referred to as KGM). Old 3D data were reprocessed at the Nuraly field, based on the results of which a structural and dynamic interpretation was performed, which made it possible to detail the structural and lithological characteristics of the sections and clarify reservoir properties of reservoirs and forecast bright objects. At Naturally field, based on the results of the reinterpretation, the conceptual model of sedimentation conditions, lateral and vertical facies variability of deposits was updated, which contributed to the identification of potentially promising zones and objects for the presence of oil and gas reserves, including previously unmapped ones. An analysis of the prospects of deposits in the zone of wedging out to the buried ledge of the basement and further specific activities for additional exploration will not only increase reserves in a separate field but also have a beneficial effect on the company's economy and suggest new directions for additional exploration at other fields in the region.
