Abstract

Objective: To understand the types of obstetric violence and their prevention methods. Methodology: This is an integrative review guided by the question "What are the main types of obstetric violence and prevention methods?" Data was collected from August to September 2022 from the Virtual Health Library (VHL), LILACS, and SciELO, using three combinations of descriptors: Obstetric Violence; Prevention; Health Professionals. Results: 22 articles were selected, of which five were found in SciELO with three repetitions, two in LILACS with one repetition, and 29 in VHL with ten repetitions. Articles in English, Portuguese, and Spanish were included. Final considerations: It is evident that the main problems are due to the lack of knowledge by pregnant women and health professionals about obstetric violence. To overcome this issue, it is necessary to implement specific laws, educate health professionals about childbirth and its impacts on the puerperal woman, and have adequate infrastructure.
