Abstract

This study attempted to determine directions for job training and improvements by analyzing the effects of cosmetologist training on youth employment and business startup competency in terms of importance and performance. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed among a total of 200 young cosmetologists who had just been recently employed or had launched a business after receiving job training. In terms of the effects of cosmetologist job training on employment/business startup, importance was greater than performance. Depending on the subjects’ term of employment, environment and job title, ‘skill improvement’ and the ‘subscription of four major public insurance systems’ had an influence on the above results. In other words, they could be improved as job training institute enhances the performance of job competency by upgrading the curriculum for skill improvement and implementing follow-up for the subscription of the four major public insurance systems. Further, they could have a positive effect on employment and turnover rates. In contrast, employment/business startup satisfaction was high. Therefore, it appears that approaching employment/business startup issues through job training would help the subjects make a decision about their career, build confidence and increase possibility.
