Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of self-management combined with skill training on self-efficacy and quality of life in patients with diabetic retinopathy. Methods From June 2015 to June 2016, 53 patients with diabetic retinopathy who underwent routine nursing care in our hospital were selected as the control group. From July 2016 to July 2017, 55 patients with diabetic retinopathy who underwent self-management combined with skill training in our hospital were selected as the observation group. Compared the changes of self-efficacy, self-care ability, quality of life before nursing and 1 month after nursing. Results The general self-efficacy score in the observation group after nursing was (28.22±3.61) points, higher than (17.02±2.57) in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The self-concept score in the observation group after nursing was (21.26±3.15) points, the self-care responsibility score was (21.65±2.08) points, the score of self-care skills was (33.65±4.75) points, the score of health knowledge level was (54.77±6.51) points, the total score of self-care ability was (128.63±15.28) points, which were all better than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The score of distant vision in the observation group after nursing was (41.83±3.51) points, the score of reading and fine work was (16.78±3.15) points, the score of adjustment ability was (15.54±1.03) points, the score of ability of daily life was (16.96±1.23) points, the total score of quality of life was (83.26±6.39) points, which were all higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion Self-management combined with skill training can significantly improve the self-efficacy, self-care ability, and quality of life in patients with diabetic retinopathy, worthy of promotion.
