Abstract

Objective To investigate the applicability and the effectiveness of the ARCS motivational model application in the nursing teaching reform. Methods The students were divided into two classes with random, the experimental class and the control class. Through the combination of the ARCS motivational model with the nursing fundamental courses, the continuous and dynamic teaching model based on the results of process was established. The integrative teaching model was implemented in the experimental class while the traditional methods were employed in the control class. After the experiment, the investigation of IMMS, CIS and other related tests were made to obtain the data. Results Significant differences were found between the two classes. All of the aspects (the level of self efficacy, academic record, and criteria thinking etc.) in the experimental class were much higher than those in the control class. Conclusions The combination of the ARCS motivational model with the nursing fundamental courses can arouse and keep students' learning motivation, and improve their theoretical and operational level. It also benefits to improve the sense of the self-efficacy and the criteria-thing capability. Key words: ARCS Model; Motivational Promotion Tactics; Nursing Teaching; Effect
