Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the teachers' attitudes towards the teaching profession courses in. To this end, teachers' attitudes towards the teaching profession courses were tested in terms of various variables. Attitude Scale Towards Teacher Profession Courses in General which was developed by Ekici (2008) was used. Teacher candidates attending Necatibey Balikesir University, Faculty of Education, Primary Education Department constitute the study group. The data were collected from fourth-grade students (n=470) in the different departments of primary education departments ( Elementary Teacher Education, Elementary Mathematics Education, Science Education, Social Sciences Education, Early Childhood Education). Descriptive method was used in this study. As a result of this research, it was found that in the attitudes of the teacher candidates’ attitudes towards teaching profession courses, there was a significant difference according to the variables in terms of the departments in which they were attending and the teaching type. In general, it was found that the positive attitude percentage was not higher than the negative attitude percentage in none of the attitudes towards teaching profession courses.
