Abstract

Some cases of transition to a new connection of DC and AC electric locomotive motors are described. A wellknown formula for calculating the number of revolutions of a DC motor is proposed, which allows us to conclude that at a constant voltage, to increase the motor speed, it is necessary to reduce the magnetic fl ux of the excitation windings. The features of shunting resistor sections of an electric locomotive, a section power circuit diagram, a diagram of the starting characteristics of an alternating current electric locomotive of the VL80 series are considered. It is recommend using the weakening of the magnetic fi eld of the traction motors of these electric locomotives when operating an electric locomotive on railway sections, which allows to reduce the operating current, heating and, as a result, preserve the resource of traction machines.
