Abstract

The key topic of this chapter is to compare the profiles of students pursuing accounting course at the University of Economics in Prague. The analyzed course is Accounting I. (1FU201), which is compulsory for almost all students (except for those who study the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the University of Economics in Prague). The theoretical part includes the analysis of factors which could possibly have impact on the students’ success in the mentioned course, such as semester of study, type of secondary school and type of studied faculty. It was concluded that, from this range, the factor with the biggest impact is the type of the secondary school – grammar school graduates are generally more successful than students from high schools. Other factors have rather negligible impact on the success in the Accounting I. course.
