Abstract

Accident related depressurization and destruction of vertical steel tanks often lead to seri-ous consequences. Therefore, for these objects always remains an urgent task of ensuring safe operation. There are currently regulatory framework governing the design, manufac-ture, installation and operation of these facilities. Nevertheless, statistics of accidents reservoirs shows that the existing measures to ensure the safety of those items are not perfect and need further development. In this article, the author examines standardized methods of predicting resource vertical steel tanks according to the criterion of cyclic strength. In accordance with the requirements of normative-technical documentation, the method can be used both in the design and technical inspection. The examples show that due to the use of certain assumptions, and the complexity of the phenomenon of metal fatigue, the standard method of forecasting the resource can produce results with consid-erable error. As the directions of improvement of the existing method is proposed to use in the evalu-ation of technical condition and forecasting of resource control methods, allowing to estimate the damage of material. An example of the calculation algorithm of the resource based on the application of eddy current nondestructive testing as a source of diagnostic information. The proposed algorithm is best used in combination with accepted standard method of forecasting the resource tanks on the criterion of cyclic strength.
