Abstract
A simple time-of-flight, pulse-counting system is introduced to a sputtered neutral analysis by a nonresonant multiphoton ionization technique. The system consists of an ion acceleration assembly, a flight tube, a microchannel plate detector and pulse-counting electronics. A direct counting of detected photoions on each laser shot provided a new capability of comparing different elements with no detection efficiency difference.
