Abstract

ABSTRACT In this paper a stability problem of a DC machine at no load is described. This problem takes place for a drive that uses a thyristorized chopper as a voltage source and is observed through an oscillatory behaviour of the no load speed. DC chopper design aspects are involved (1). Starting from an analytic model, the origin and characteristics of the oscillation are determined. The results obtained are very close to those obtained for a experimental prototype. Finally, solutions are recommended.
