Abstract

In recent decades, the construction industry developed rapidly in China. Due to the large time span of the construction industry development, the design codes that the design and construction of existing buildings relied on are different. However, there are relatively few studies on the seismic capacity of structures designed specifically based on the old version of Chinese code for seismic design of buildings. Once earthquake and other disasters occur, it will be very difficult to assess the damage state of such buildings in time. Based on Chinese Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (GBJ1-89) and Chinese Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (GB50011-2001), this paper designs eight high-rise non-residential steel frames in consideration of different seismic fortification intensities. Based on the IDA analysis method, the seismic vulnerability of eight steel-frame structures is compared in detail. The research results provide a reference for the seismic performance evaluation, earthquake damage state prediction of steel-frame structures design based on different version of seismic design codes, and the revision of seismic design codes.
