Abstract

Objective To investigate the risk factors and provide the basis for prevention of cervical cancer. Methods The data based on a cross-sectional screening study in Yangcheng County, Shanxi Province, where cervical cancer was very popular. All cases were confirmed by pathology. The cervical cytological samples were collected by self-sampling and direct sampling methods. The high risk human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA was analyzed by Hybrid Capture Assay (HC?-II). All data was managed by Foxbase. χ 2 test and unconditional Logistic regression model were used for data analysis by SPSS 10.0. Results The 3233 women were eligible in our research, the overall rates of HPV infection was 30.4%, HPV DNA detection rate in the ≥CIN3 was 99.0%, in normal was 24.0%. The risk factors were including HPV infection, number of births (1/?≥3) and cervicitis/polyp. The ORs were 307.5( 42.8~ 2209.2), 2.44( 1.16~ 5.14) and 1.56( 1.03~ 2.35) respectively. Unconditional logistic regression revealed that HPV infection was significantly concened with cervical cancer. Conclusion HPV infection is the main risk factor for cervical cancer in this county. We should pay more attention to the communes that HPV infection rate was very high in the prevention and control of cervical cancer.
