Abstract

The distribution system works on balanced loading conditions but inherently it becomes unbalanced, because of differences in loading on each phase due to variable switching of loads. So, these cases must be analyzed to reduce power losses and increase reliability. The allocation of distributed generation (DG) and distribution static synchronous compensator (D-STATCOM) must be optimal to reduce power losses and improve the voltages. In this paper, Sine cosine algorithm is used for finding optimal allocation. All the analysis has been done on IEEE 25 bus unbalanced radial system. Different unbalanced conditions with DG and D-STATCOM allocations have been analyzed in this paper. 1.Light, medium, and heavy loading conditions and their impact on the size and location of DG and D-STATCOM, 2. Type A and type B unbalanced conditions and their impact on size and location of DG and D-STATCOM, 3. Realistic ZIP load model with load growth and its effect on the size of DG and D-STATCOM. Energy Saving is also calculated for each case. All the results have been analyzed in MATLAB 2021a.
