Abstract
The combination of a photovoltaic solar panel, a battery for intermediate storage and a local user has been simulated numerically. Starting from the meteorological data, characteristics have been obtained indicating the conditions when the load can be supplied continuously. From these curves, several observations can be made concerning the possibility of an autonomous photovoltaic supply in northern countries.
