Abstract

Local residents can use community mapping to identify local issues and participate in decision-making to establish development plans. Administrative blind spots can be minimized as local residents directly collect data within their living environments. Therefore, community mapping can promote various changes in the community by connecting individuals, organizations, and regions. The National Disaster Management Research Institute has been supporting institutions in promoting safe community mapping activities since 2016. According to the results of the community mapping survey for the analysis of change in safety consciousness, participants were able to strengthen their safety awareness and increase the effectiveness of safety-culture activities using community mapping. Based upon these effects, we expect to continue to operate community mapping to solve local problems and improve the community environment.
