Abstract
In this paper we try to investigate the answer for a number of research questions; firstly, if the NZX listed Agricultural businesses are acting conservatively? Secondly, if there is a lack of entrepreneurial flair in the sector? and thirdly, if the industry is practicing sufficient value adding activities? In the process of the investigation of these questions the paper addresses the bigger question, which is, why the New Zealand agricultural sector is not performing well when the peer countries like Australia, China, Canada etc. are doing well?
