Abstract

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) techniques in battery charging are recent trends to transfer energy from power source to load without physical connections. It is an efficient approach to design of electrical system where wired connections are inconvenient, risky or are not viable. For designing the WPT system, the mutual inductance (MI) of the coupled coils and structure of the coil are important one and also both are playing vital role to achieve more power transfer capacity and efficiency. This paper presents computing the mutual inductance and coupling coefficient between the coupled coils with different misalignment in air cored and ferrite cored using Finite Element Modeling (FEM). Hence, researchers can design WPT system effectively for dynamic EV battery charging application.
