Abstract

Modern diagnostic methods in low-temperature plasma science and technology as well as in high-temperature plasma employ probes and substrates of complicated geometries. For the explanation of obtained experimental data the computer modelling, especially the particle simulation techniques, started to be widely used. Due to forms of the probes the application of computer codes of several dimensionalities is desirable. However, the self-consistent particle simulation is very time-consuming even in one dimension, therefore the present contribution is devoted to the analysis of time demands of particle simulation codes and to the discussion of ways how to increase their performance both in low-temperature and high-temperature plasmas.
