Abstract

This paper proposes a new hybrid linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems and investigates some characteristics of these systems. A hybrid LPV system is defined by a ser of LPV systems and average dwell-time as a model of discrete event dynamics. This system encompasses typical LPV systems and emerging hybrid systems such as reconfigurable flight control. The hybrid LPV system is then analyzed using multiple parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions. This type of Lyapunov function is allowed to be discontinuous so that it significantly can generalize the class of Lyapunov functions used in the existing (switched) LPV systems and accommodate some characteristics of hybrid systems. With a benchmark LPV system, the proposed approach is shown to reduce the conservatism of the existing Lyapunov-based LPV approaches.
